I’m a small and local bookstore enthusiast, so I wanted to do a shout-out here for a store I read about in mLive, “Black Stone Bookstore & Cultural Center aims to fill void of independent bookstores in Ypsilanti.” To quote:
However, Black Stone is the only bookstore in the area to cater to specialize in African American books and culture. Owner Carlos Franklin said the store is filling a void in the market. The store officially opened Nov. 2 at 214 W. Michigan Ave., across the street from B-24s and the Ypsilanti District Library.
Book selling is a tough racket and there have been a lot of businesses that have come and gone from downtown Ypsi. But I certainly wish these guys the best and I hope they make it.
